Combined Heat & Power

Combined Heat and Power may have some rebates available. This technology is not the best fit for the average house. If you have a pool or for commercial and industrial use this technology can make sense. In the very near future residential units will be available that can provide power in the case of a power outage. When that happens they will make sense because they will eliminate the need for a back up Generator.

Pictured to the right is a CH & P (Combined Heat & Power) small enough to fit in a home. CH & P is a generator that makes electricity from gas or oil. They have the added benefit of being water cooled. This helps the generator to make electricity more efficiently. The water is heated by the generator and is a bonus energy that can be piped through the heating system. The water can also be used for domestic hot water.
